No matter what specific discipline you’re in, being in the medical field teaches you the importance of using data to treat patients better. But what sometimes gets overlooked is that data can also be used to help our businesses be healthier and more successful. Properly leveraging the power of business analytics and the right key performance indicators (KPIs) in a SNF or a SNF network can be the key to getting out in front of the pack and achieving the desired results.
Presumably, we can all agree that sounds great in theory. But what does it actually mean? What specific ways can business intelligence and data help a SNF succeed? What results can someone realistically expect?
Turning to Real-World Examples
One of the best places to look to answer these questions is real-world experiences. Recently, we released a case study on how SOHO Health, a clinically integrated network (CIN) based in Connecticut and Massachusetts, utilized data to change the game.
Where Was SOHO Health Looking to Improve?
With the industry as a whole transitioning to value-based care and competition increasing, Lisa Trumble, SOHO Health’s new CEO, was challenged with developing a post-acute network with the goal of improving quality outcomes, decreasing costs and increasing patient satisfaction.
Specifically, Trumble and her team determined that SOHO Health needed the ability to:
- Develop a consistent approach to post-acute care management
- Benchmark performance internally and externally against the industry
- Help better allocate resources to individual facilities to meet unique challenges
- Move away from anecdotal data to drive better decision-making
- Align key decision-makers to identify optimal solutions and best practices
In short, SOHO Health wanted to get better data, benchmark to identify areas to improve, and implement data-backed processes to improve results across the network.
Trumble Knew Just What to Do
When Trumble stepped in to lead the company, she had past experience meeting these exact needs. Formerly with Cambridge Health Alliance, another Net Health client, Trumble had partnered with PointRight, and saw tremendous results.
Trumble knew that partnering with PointRight would be the exact solution SOHO Health needed to meet and exceed the list of challenges. The results? Just as she expected. Currently, both SOHO Health and Cambridge Health Alliance continue to work with PointRight and continue to see incredible results.
